Introducing Co-op Solar, the easiest, most affordable way to put clean solar power to work for you.
We handle the power, you get the benefits, including:
- No equipment to buy
- No panels on your roof
- No maintenance
- No big upfront expense
Co-op Solar is a "community solar" system- a larger system that allows many co-op members to get the benefits of solar energy. By utilizing solar arrays all throughout the Midwest, participants get the benefit of solar power without being subject to bad weather in one area. Production from each array is combined and put back onto the grid; you then receive the aggregate benefits of the sun across three states.
Members purchase solar energy in blocks; each solar unit costs 50 cents per block per month. Each block corresponds to a portion of the solar array that should produce within a range of about 100-500 kWh per year, depending on weather. There is no equipment to purchase, and you can change the amount of solar blocks on your bill. And whether you're renting or own your home, you just have to be a member of Steuben County REMC to participate.
